It all got very emotional as Ghanaian and world football great Abei Ayew ‘Pele’ shed tears on live TV.
The Maestro as he is affectionately called was on set for a live interview about his career and life after football on GTV Sports Plus’ Time with the Captains program.
As part of the session, the man who gave him the opportunity to play at juvenile level, Herbert Adika was ushered into the studio to share his account of Abedi’s life story.
As Mr Adika (now blind) sat and narrated his experiences with Abedi, the three-time African Player of the year could not help but get teary.
Abedi Pele played for Mr Adika’s Great Falcos in his early stages and won the 1978 SWAG Colts Player of the Year. He would go on to reach greater heights in his career with some great stories like winning the African Player of the 3 times.
