Great Olympics skipper Gladson Awako has urged Ghana Premier clubs to institute a salary structure which will help curb the rampant player exodus in the league.
In a latest report released by CEIS, Ghana is the second exporter of footballers in Africa which supports the fact that local players move out for greener pastures due to low wages.
To this end, Awako suggested the implementation of a minimum wage of GHC3000 a month.
“I think the minimum a player in the Ghana Premier League should be paid is 3,000 cedis ($550). It is not enough though but that should be. If players get paid GHC 3000 to GHC 4000 a month, they’ll not be rushing to say Togo or Cote d’ Ivoire,” The former TP Mezembe star told Angel FM.
The 29-year old returned to Ghana after spells abroad to join Great Olympics ahead of the start of the 2019/20 campaign.
