Black Stars head Coach Charles Akonnor has spoken highly of Asante Kotoko midfielder Justice Blay, mentioning him as a player he likes very much.
Blay, has been the subject of discussion across various platforms based on his dominant performances in the middle of the park. Due to his efforts at former club Medeama SC, and currently at Asante Kotoko, the player has been mentioned among the top performing midfielders in the Ghana premier league.
It looks like CK Akonnor’s radar have focused on the player for sometime and the Black Stats gaffer has spoken of his admiration for the Sekondi native.
Akonnor told the GFA’s official YouTube channel why he is fond of the player and how close he is to inviting him into the Black Stars.
“…Somebody like (Justice) Blay, he looks active, when he’s playing he looks hungry, I like people who are hungry and want to be successful, its not just one match, two matches” he said.
Akonnor has encouraged local players to believe on themselves and work hard as he is ever ready to hand them playing minutes if they contribute consistent top level performances.
“Its up to the locals, we will give them the chance, we will encourage them. So the challenge is up to then, I will like to give them more chances” he concluded.
