Barely 24 hours after the death of former Black Stars striker Opoku Afriyie was announced, Ghana football has lost another legend in Kwasi Owusu.
The former Bofoakwa Tano goal machine was confirmed dead on Monday March 30, 2020.
Born on November 7, 1947, Owusu passes on at the age of 72.
He was a member of the Black Stars squad that finished 2nd at the 1970 Africa Cup of Nations and until 2013 was Ghana’s all time top scorer.
He remarkably scored 9 goals in 2 games against Niger in an AFCON 1970 qualifier.
Famously called the ‘Powerhouse’ due to his explosive nature, Owusu represented Tano Bofoakwa at club level and scored an amazing number of goals in the domestic league. He is believed to be the all time scorer in the Ghana football league although records remains distorted.
FMIG wishes the Ghanaian football great a smooth transition from this world to the other world. May his soul rest in peace.
