Hearts of Oak Coach Edward Nii Odoom has reminded critics of his credentials after suggestions he wasn’t the right man to end the club’s 10-year domestic trophy drought.
The former Tema Youth gaffer was appointed on interim basis following the dismissal of Kim Grant.
The Phobians suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at Medeama in his first game in charge to make it their worst start in the league since the 2009/20 season.
However, Nii Odoom insists he is not under pressure and is more than capable of turning things around.
“There is no pressure. The job is not bigger than me, I have coach for 30 years am not new in the game. We need to be organized for our next game. When you lose the ball you must react quickly but we were somehow slow” he said after Sunday’s defeat.
“I think we lost concentration in the first minute when our opponent had their corner kick and the goal unsettled us but my boys came back but Medeama were very physical … they more determined and aggressive than us.”
He added that, he wants the job on a permanent basis so that he can augment his squad to mount a strong challenge in the league.
“I want the job full time and I will beef up the squad.” I think the midfield need some additions. We need creative midfielders and box to box midfielders who can fight for the ball for us.”
Hearts will be looking to bounce back when they host Ebusua Dwarfs at the Accra sports stadium on match day three.
