Accra Hearts of Oak attacker Joseph Esso, Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Felix Annan and Ashantigold skipper Shafiu Mumuni have been nominated for the 2019 SWAG Footballer of the Year award, the home-based category by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana.
The trio have been the most standout players in the local league and the various national teams.
Shafiu Mumuni has a remarkable year to his name scoring 9 goals in the Normalisation Committee special competition.
The striker also scored 4 goals in the CAF Confederations as his team exit the competition in the second round of the Preliminary stage.
Shafiu also won the golden boot at the 2019 WAFU Cup of nations in Senegal with 4 goals.
Felix Annan has been fantastic for the Porcupine Warriors in both domestic and CAF inter club competition.
He was part of the Black Stars squad that represented the country in Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations.
He is the most consistent local player in the Black Stars.
Joseph will also fancy his chances of winning the award after his impressive performance at the WAFU Nations Cup in Senegal.
He was named among the team of the tournament after scoring two and assisting one in the competition, and was the most outstanding player for Hearts of Oak in the NC Special Competition.
The 45th MTN SWAG Awards will be held at the Accra International Conference Center in the New Year.
