Ashantigold defender Mubarik Yussif is a happy man after scoring on his birthday for the Miners in their season opener against Olympics.

The defender who was celebrating his birthday on Sunday gave his side the lead on the 18th minute after an Olympics defenders failed to clear a free-kick inside the box.

Ashantigold eventually won the game by 3-0, after Amos Addai and Shafiu Mumuni added the second and third.

Speaking to the media after the game, Yussif Mubarik couldn’t hide excitement after scoring on his birthday.

“I don’t know what to say but I am feeling happy to score on my birthday” he said

The former Liberty Professionals defender also expressed his happiness on hi side’s win over Great Olympics.

“I am also excited because we won our first game of the season. It was difficult but in the end we won.”

It was double joy for Yussif as he also emerged man of the match after the game at the Len Clay stadium.
