The Ghana Football Association has announced that the 2019/2020 Premier League season will kick off on the weekend of December 21.
The Division 1 League and the National Women’s League are also expected to start on the same weekend.
This signals the return of domestic football after its suspension following the collapse of the erstwhile Ghana Football Association (GFA) administration in June 2018.
The League was truncated after an investigative documentary exposed bribery and match-fixing activities of top officials of the GFA, leading to an overhaul of the national football’s governing body and a halt to all domestic football competitions.
Meanwhile, Congress approved a decision to increase the number of participating teams in the Premier League for the 2019/2020 season to 18-Clubs.
Kumasi King Faisal and Great Olympics have been reinstated after a long legal tussle with the Ghana FA.
