Red Star Belgrade defender Abraham Akwasi Frimpong is glad with his side side’s performance following their 2-1 win over Russian outfit FC Krasnodar which saw them booking their place in the 2017/2018 Europa League group stage.
The Serbian giants lose the first game by three goals to two at the Krasnodar Stadium last week but went through with superior away goal difference as they won at home.
Frimpong was a pillar at the back of the Zvezda for ninety minutes as they made a triumphant entry back to the group stage of the European competition.
The Ghanaian admits the game was tough as Krasnodar are a very good side but they were resolute and determined to win to book their place in the group stage.
“This was a very tough game as it was the last knockout game to the group stage,” Frimpong told footballmadeinghana.com
“It was like a final. We lose the first leg by three goals to two and we needed a win to sail through. We were very determined and we got it,”
Frimpong has been one outstanding for Red Star since his move from Napredak Krusevac in January this year.
