Ghana’s current assembly of best U23 stars seem to have been put together by coach Ibrahim Tanko with the arrival of in-form midfielder Majeed Ashmeru, Bernard Terkpetey and Ebsjerg new boy Dauda Mohammed.

Terkpetey who was a subject of controversy after being neglected by Kwasi Appiah for the Black Stars for the 2019 AFCON in Egypt has been handed a call up by Tanko to prove his worth.

The striker who has just joined Bundesliga side Fortuna Dusseldorf was one of Ghana’s in-form players in Europe last season but was ignored by the Black Stars coach.

Tanko’s side is made up of almost all in-form U23 Ghanaian players in Europe and on the local scene, representing what could be described as the best assembly of Black Meteors players.

The trio have been joined by another in-form winger for KRC Genk in Belgium Joseph Paintsil who has a goal and an assist to his name this season in three games.

The other foreign-based players who have arrived in camp include skipper Yaw Yeboah of Numencia, Udinese defender Nicholas Opoku who replaced injured Musah Nuhu.

The rest include Russia-based Joel Fameyeh, Slovakia-based Osman Bukari, Red Bull Salzburg defender Gideon Mensah, IK Start midfielder Isaac Twum, CD Badajoz defender Kingsley Fobi, Imolesse striker Bismark Ngissah and Edward Sarpong of Esperanca Lagos.

The thirteen foreign-based stars joined nine home-based professionals to make a 22-man squad for the assignment against Algeria on Friday.

The game comes off at 15:00GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The second leg of the clash comes off exactly a week after the first leg.

It will be the final round of qualifiers for the U23 AFCON Tournament to be staged in Egypt later this year.
