Former Ghana youth international David Atanga has completed a move to German Bundesliga II side Holstein Kiel, the club has confirmed.
The young attacker joined the Storks on a 3-year deal from Austrian top-flight side Red Bull Salzburg after a fruitful negotiations.
Atanga who played for Greuther Furth on loan in the just ended season, playing over 30 games in all competitions from Red Bull Salzburg.
The Ghanaian pushed for a permanent move to the Bundesliga following his consistent struggle to establish a permanent playing role in the Red Bull team.
He joined Red Bull Salzburg in 2015 from Red Bull Ghana (now West African Football Academy) but failed to make the first team of the Austrian champions despite his sterling output at FC Liefering with 12 goals in 36 matches.
Atanga has played on loan from Red Bull Salzburg with several clubs including FC Heidenheim, SV Mattersburg, SKN St. Pölten and recently Greuther Fürth.
“With David Atanga, we were able to win an extremely fast and flexible winger for us, which can be used on both wings,” the club’s Managing Director of Sport Fabian Wohlgemuth said after his signing.
“In addition, he is dribbelstark, brings a high understanding of the game and a certain wit.”

He scored one goal with seven assists in his 31 appearances for Greuther Fürth during his loan spell last season.
The 22-year old was a member of the Ghana U20 team that played in the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup where he made five appearances.
