Black Queens forward Mukarama Abdulai has expressed delight after winning 2018 Female Footballer of the Year by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG).
The Teenage sensation beat off stiff competition from Faustina Ampah and Grace Asantewaa to scoop the prestigious award at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday night.
The 16-year-old captained Ghana to quarter-finals of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, scoring a record seven goals and winning the golden boot.
Her seven goals made her outright top scorer for Ghana in the history of the Women’s U-17 World Cup.
She also collected the Adidas Bronze Ball (third best player) behind Spain’s Claudia Pina and Nicole Perez of Mexico.
The Northen Ladies star enjoyed a stellar 2018 campaign in which she was also shortlisted for CAF Women’s Best Player award.
“Good Morning, I will like to say a big Thank You to @SWAG_Ghana, My Family, Friends and to everyone who helped made this possible. I’m forever grateful ALHAMDULILAH 👏 🙏🏽“ Mukarama tweeted.
