Ahead of the 18th anniversary of the May 9 disaster that claimed 127 lives at the Accra Sports Stadium former Kotoko Chairman Herbert Mensah paid a courtesy call on the Ashanti Regional Chief Sheikh Abdul Mumin on Friday at the Kumasi Central Mosque.
The former football administrator, with support from donors, has supported the welfare of victims of the disaster and family members of the deceased.
The event which will fall on Wednesday has already b started gathering storm in Kumasi where series of events will be staged to commemorate the sad experience.
Mr. Mensah fraternized with the Muslim community in Kumasi at the central mosque and is expected to visit some churches on Saturday and Sunday as part of the event.
Reports are that, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak are likely to stage a friendly game to grace the occasion.
The activities will continue tomorrow with health walk on the streets of Kumasi and finally a courtesy call on the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
