Asante Kotoko won the 1970 ACF Champions League with Ibrahim Sunday as the skipper of the side.
The brilliant player who catapulted the Porcupine Warriors to their first ever CAF Champions League title has recalled how he achieved that feat with his team mates.
“Team unity was the reason we were able to conquer Africa in 1970,” Sunday noted.
Sunday admits that team unitybis key to the success story of every club, insisting, every player give out 100% whenever they played a game.
“As a player at that time, Rev Osei Kofi was the captain and I was the assistant, but he got injured and gave me the captain armband,” he said.
“The players supported me and always listened to me. Even though I wasn’t the coach or management member, but all of them supported me.
“They always agreed with whatever I will say or decide because of my disciplined nature.
“The unity was fantastic, there was no quarrel. I don’t know maybe God gifted me with that leadership skills,” he told Footballmadeinghana.com
Ibrahim Sunday later coached the team and won the second Africa Championship for the club in 1983.
