Dreams FC will be hoping to return to winning ways on Wednesday when they host Karela United at the Theatre of Dreams, Dawu in the Normalisation Special Competition on Wednesday.
Dreams FC outplayed Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday but could not find the cutting edge upfront as they lost by a lone goal to nothing. Karela on the other hand defeated Ebusua Dwarfs by two goals to one in Anyinase to maintain their home dominance.
The game at Dawu on Wednesday will be the third meeting between the two clubs with all the encounters ending in goalless draw. The first game was a friendly game at Anyinase prior to the 2017/2018 season whilst the second game was a league game at the Theatre of Dreams.
On paper, the game looks dicey with both clubs losing about 80 percent of the players who played in the previous encounters. Dreams FC have sold the likes of mercurial skipper Leonard Owusu, George Dwubeng. striker Zuberu Sharani and a host of others whilst Karela on the other hand have lost winger Maxwell Baako, Ismail Ganiu, Jean Vital and other key players.
Looking at the the past two games between the two clubs, it has been generally a midfield affair and this is the place Dreams FC will have the urge with the possible return of Samuel Nii Armah Ashittey and Samuel Alabi to the starting lineup. Whilst Nii Armah was introduced in the 65th minute against Hearts, Alabi was not in the match-day squad.
One player who could be a tough customer for the Dreams FC back four is Diawiase Taylor, the attacker was in his elements against Dwarfs on Sunday and the Dreams FC back four should keep a close eye on him throughout the game.
The home advantage of Dreams FC could also play a key role as they have been phenomenon at home since the second-tier league.
It is well certain that there are going to be goals in a clash between the two clubs for the first time. Dreams FC look likely to win the day but they must just eschew complacency.
