Saul Niguez opened the scores for Atletico in the 5th minutes, before Diego Costa doubled the lead 6 minutes later.
Former Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata added the third in the 59th minutes before Thomas Teye Partey squared it off with a stunner to put the game to bed.
The midfielder lasted the entire duration of the game.
Mubarak Wakaso was introduced from the bench in the 68th minute for Thomas Pina.
Another Ghanaian international Patrick Twumasi also came on for Deportivo Alaves’ Jonathan Callieri in the 73rd minutes as he watched his team battered by spirited Atletico Madrid side.
