Ghana Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah says he is using the final qualifier against Kenya yesterday and the friendly against Mauritania on Tuesday to assess some of his players ahead of the AFCON tournament.
According to Appiah, he needs to have a critical look at some of his players ahead of AFCON in Egypt and these games give him the perfect platform to examine his charges.
“The game was very competitive, we also have a game on Tuesday.
“These games will be used to assess some of the players I am not hundred percent convinced about,” Appiah stated in the post match presser after piping Kenya.
“We are going to the AFCON and we have to be sure of all the players we want to pick.
“The game today was very competitive. We created some chances which we missed.
“At the end of the day we have seen Kenya is not a team we can just ride over. They have also qualified for the AFCON.”
Debutant Caleb Ansah Ekuban gave Ghana an 88th minute winner after being introduced in the second half.
Al Jazira winger Ernest Asante was the other player who made his first Black Stars appearance on the day.
