Midfielder Afriyie Acquah says the injection of new players in the Black Stars will heighten competition in the team.
As many as FIVE players were handed debut starts for the Ghana national team in their opening 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying win over Ethiopia.
Players such as Thomas Agyapong, Raphael Dwamena and Ebenzer Ofori were the toast of many after putting in sterling performances in the 5-0 win over Ethiopia.
These players were handed callups at the expense established names such as Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, Mubarak Wakaso and Christian Atsu.
And midfielder Afriyie Acquah feels the injection of new faces will intensify competition in the team.
“The new players in the team is very good and it tells you there are many talents out there,” he told FootballMadeInGhana.com.
“This will make some of us who are already in the team work very hard to maintain our positions.
“It is a very good thing and I believe it will make us better.”
Acquah had to settle for a substitute role in the 5-0 win over Ethiopia.
