Jerry Akaminko was joined by some of his Black Stars teammates and his celebrity friends to undertake a series of charity events in Nsawam-Adoagyiri on Saturday.

The Turkish-based defender joined forces with his friend and football agent Papa Agyemang in organizing the event that brought the whole Nsawam Township alive.

Dubbed ‘Densu Community Fiesta’ both the old and the young rushed onto the streets in excitement just to catch a glimpse of an exclusive convoy of vehicles in which the stars were traveling in.

The group first took a tour of the fruit processing factory of Blue Skies where they were educated on the enormous opportunities in agriculture before seeing at firsthand several operations of the factory.

The likes of Kwadwo Asamoah, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, Seidu Salifu, Torric Jebrin and Afriyie Acquah were stunned at the revelation of how the factory was impacting the lives of the community of Nsawam and the Ghanaian economy at large.

Blue Skies have a work force of minimum 4,200

Blue Skies has a current work force of 4,200 with thousand others lined up awaiting screening for possible employment.

The company processes – in an added value manner – a minimum of 40,000 tones of fresh fruit on a daily basis to be supplied to some of the biggest shopping centers in Europe.

The team then took off to the Eye of the Lord Orphanage where a donation of assorted items and undisclosed amount of cash was donated.

Inmates of the orphanage also had the rare opportunity to interact and take pictures with their favourite celebrities.

Local movie stars Kwaku Manu and Bismark the Joke drew most of the applause as the stars took turns to offer some words of encouragement to the excited gathering.

“I want you to know that all is not lost for you no matter the situation you find yourself here,” Akaminko told the orphans.

“We always have you in mind so don’t feel you are alone. I would like to assure you that we will be paying you visits from time to time to ensure this unique bond which has been established today does not collapse.

The convoy then moved to the St. Martins SHS Park where local third tier club Densu Rovers proved their mettle by piping the star-studded celebrity team 1-0 right before the eyes of their Chief.

Several sporting equipment were also donated to the school.

This is the first of what organizers say will be an annual event as part of efforts to raise the profile of the Nsawam area.

The event was sponsored by Jaka Motors, Blue Skies, Sandlanders Football, Special Ice, BCPL, IMANI-Sem, Kete and Play and Dreams.
