Following their shameful 1-0 defeat to Mali leading to their exit from the ongoing U20 AFCON, Ghana coach Jimmy Corbblah says his side did not have enough preparation for the tournament.

The Black Satellites enjoyed a six months camping period and played close to 30 friendly matches before leaving for the tournament in Niger but head coach Jimmy Corbblah insists the time was not enough.

Perhaps the coach needed a year to prepare for the tourney but the defeat to Mali has forced such a childish excuse from the gaffer.

“Preparation is very important in such a tournament, and we didn’t have enough preparation,” Jimmy said after the defeat to Mali.

“Competition is very key and as you all know there is no football in our country,” he added.

Jimmy after his side’s 2-0 win over Burkina Faso in the opener said his players are playing together for the first time but their performance was admirable, insisting “We’ll play a better game against Senegal,” yet he failed Ghanaians.

Despite his brimming confidence and optimism of picking a ticket to the World Cup in Poland in May, Jimmy now turns round to say his side was not ready, as if to say he was not the one who sounded so positive ahead of the Senegal game.

After Ghana were kicked out of the competition by an average Mali side, Jimmy adds that the six months preparation and countless friendly matches were not enough for him to put a good team together.
