Ashanti Gold S.C left back Roland Amouzou has comforted Asante Kotoko following their first defeat of the CAF Confederation Cup at Al-Hilal in Khartoum saying the Porcupine Warriors deserved more respect after reaching the group stages at the backdrop of a poor Ghana premier league season.
C.K Akonnor’s team were beaten for the first time in Africa in the opening match-day of th 2018/19 Confederation Cup but former Togo U-20 international Amouzou has rather congratulated the Porcupine Warriors for reaching the group stages of the competition.
The Miners full-back who was born to a Togolese father and a Ghanaian mother has experience in Africa having played for Gabon’s 105 Libreville RC and Bobo Dioulasso in Burkina Faso in the past.
“If you look at their form and position in the first round of the league, it wasn’t good but they defied all odds to reach the group stages of the competition and for me that was a big feat.” Roland Amozou told FootballmadeinGhana.com in a wide ranging interview.
“I’m not looking at the defeat in Sudan but if one consider the fact that they had the courage to enter the competition at the backdrop of an ordinary performance in the league then you got to know that they have really done well.
“What they need to do now is to bounce back at home in their next game and I think that will bring back the spirit. I have seen the performances of the players and I am really impressed” he added.
