The Confederation of Africa Football, CAF, has confirmed that the kickoff date for the 2019 AFCON has been changed from 14th June to 21st June.
CAF was, tight-lipped on Sunday on the development despite the report gaining prominence in the media.
In a statement signed by Deputy General Secretary Anthony Baffoe, the competition will now be held from Friday, June 21st to Friday, July 19th, 2019.
The date of the official draw for the competition has also been set for 12th April 2019 in Cairo.
Originally, the 2019 AFCON was expected to start from the 14th of June to the 15th of July but CAF says the change of date has been necessary following a request by hosts Egypt.
