PresidentĀ Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is resting his hopes in the GFA normalisation committee to succeed in reforming Ghana football.
Kofi Amoah, Lucy Quist, Naa Odofoley and Duah Adonteng were appointed on September 13 by FIFA to form a four-member committee to normalize the game. They have been severely criticized by many people for their slow-going nature but the President is hoping they succeed in sanitizing the administration of football in the West African country.
“What I’m hoping for out of what has happened (Anas expose) is that through this normalisation committee that the government and FIFA worked together to establish, a new beginning in the Ghanaian football administration is going to be started, the process is there for them to make new constitution and begin to put in a structure that hopefully will prevent the kind of thingsĀ we’ve seen in the past” Preident Akufo-Addo said during the presidential encounter with the media on Wednesday night at the Banquet hall of the Jubilee House.
“I think that the fundamental arrangement and the rest of the administration of football with FIFA has implemented all these years is still the right way which is essentially football should be the responsibility of football people and as much as possible government should keep out of administration of football.
But football like any activities in the society has to be carried out laws of the country and the laws of the country that is the responsibility of government” the President added.
