Ghana Black Satellites coach, Jimmy Cobblah says his main aim is not to win the 2018 WAFU Under 20 trophy but to assess his players.
Ghana is parading a dominant local based squad with just two foreign for the 2018 WAFU Under 20 championship which kicks off in Togo this week.
Cobblah revealed that it is great he is given the home-based players the chance as he will be able to choose those who can make it to the main Under 20 AFCON squad.
“We believe the WAFU is not about the cup but its about preparation. ” Cobblah told the media
“We have spent some time with the team during the qualifiers where we invited some European players. And now they are gone,”
“So we have decided to look at the local players around and understudy them from now to the tournament. We will know those who can make the team for the AFCON after the WAFU.”
Ghana will face Nigeria, Niger and Benin in Group B
