The Organizing Committee of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations has studied the reports of their inspection missions to Cameroon and the conclusions are not favorable for the country of Samuel Eto’o while the executive committee of CAF must definitively decide on the delicate issue on Friday after its meeting in Accra according to Jeune Afrique.
An internal source confirmed this trend to Jeune Afrique. “The conclusions of this commission show that Cameroon can not be ready to organize the CAN 2019. The final decision will be taken Friday, November 30 by the executive committee of the Confederation of African Football [CAF]”, added this source, who demanded anonymity.
CAF Final Decision
The executive committee which is meeting on Friday in Accra must decide whether Cameroon will organize next year’s tournament (from June 15 to July 13) which is the first CAN to 24 of the story.
In case the CAF decides to withdraw the CAN organization in Cameroon a search for a new host and applications applications will be launched very quickly and countries like Morocco, long presented as the ideal replacement host should Cameroon fail to do so.
Also there are South Africa and Egypt, all possible candidates.
As a reminder Morocco already replaced Kenya for the organization of the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) as the country of East Africa lagged far behind in terms of sites construction.
