GHALCA is proposing representation of players, coaches, referees and women’s football onto the Ghana FA’s Executive Committee.

The welfare body of Ghanaian clubs is currently circulating a report by its Special Committee appointed to amongst other things, make proposals for the amendment of the GFA Statutes.

One major proposal is to give seats on the powerful GFA Executive Committee exclusively for the representation of players, coaches, referees and women football.

FIFA per its Statutes have made it mandatory for national associations to have women exclusively represented on their Executive Committees.

The addition of representation from players, coaches and referees is however a new proposal which seeks to give the GFA Ex.Co a wider representation of its key stakeholders.

If accepted, the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) – which is the FIFPro accredited body in Ghana representing players – shall have representation on the GFA Executive Committee.

So will the Coaches Association of Ghana and the Referees Association of Ghana.

A general meeting of GHALCA has been called next week to consider the proposals submitted by the Special Committee.

GHALCA intends presenting the final draft of proposals to the Normalisation Committee as part of their contribution towards the process of Ghana football restructuring and reformation.
