Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer George Amoako insists he has no preference for an expatriate over an indigene for the club’s coaching job.
The Kumasi-based giants are in the hunt for a new coach following the resignation of Paa Kwesi Fabin.
Twenty seven coaches have since applied for the vacant job with twenty four being foreigners.
Amoako has been reported to have a preference for foreign coaches due to his leanings with former Kotoko chairman Herbert Mensah who had the knack for expatriate coaches.
But the seasoned administrator says his only interest is in a ‘competent’ coach and not necessarily a foreign or local one.
“I have no preference for a foreign coach over a local coach,” he told Asempa FM.
“I only want a competent coach. It doesn’t matter if he is foreign or local.”
Kotoko are said to be an advanced talks with former Black Stars captain Charles Akonnor for the vacant job.
A technical group has been tasked to delivering a worthy candidate for the post.
