J.E Sarpong says Black Stars’ 1-0 defeat against ten-man Kenya last Saturday was painful but not a disgrace as many are saying.
Ghana lost to the Harambee Stars after defender Nicholas Opoku scored an own goal in the 40th minute.
“It is always a bad feeling to lose especially looking at how the game unfolded but we cannot say the players disgraced us like many people want us to believe.” coach Sarpong told Metro FM on Monday.
“This normally happens. Whenever a team is numerically disadvantaged experience has shown that the team rather gets stronger psychologically and you could see that from the Kenyans after their player received the red card.” he said.
“They were even stronger with ten men and defended stoutly.”
The experienced coach however revealed why he is not shocked about the result.
“The game has evolved a lot. The small teams of many years ago are now playing quality football and so this result doesn’t surprise me at all.” he added.
