Ghanaian midfielder Godfred Asante is delighted to have played a part in AC Horoya’s historic progress in the CAF Champions League.
The former Dreams FC man played in the holding midfield role as Horoya grinded out a much needed goalless draw at Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday to qualify to the quarter finals of the competition.
Horoya secured the second spot in Group C with nine points and will now qualify to the knockout stage alongside Wydad Athletic Club.
Asante was playing his first game in the CAF Champions League with Horoya due to the delay in his registration.
The utility player couldn’t hide his delight in being part of the side to secure a historic berth for the Guinean club.
“I am very happy to be part of this history,” he told FootballmadeinGhana.com.
“It was never going to be easy coming here to get the result we needed.
“To start this game and play my part in qualification is a moment I have always imagined and it has finally become a reality.”
Asante joined Horoya earlier this year from Ghana Premier League club Dreams FC.
