The Ghana national men’s U-17 team, the Black Starlets, are expected to travel to Niger on Monday for the 2019 CAF U-17 African Cup West Africa Zone B qualifying tournament.
Starlets coach Abdul Karim Zito is expected to name a 25-man squad for the trip.
Zito will however further trim his squad to the required number of 21 for the qualification tournament.
Ghana is in the same group A of the qualifying Zone “B” as hosts Niger and Togo whilst Burkina Faso, Benin, Nigeria and Ivory Coast are put in group B.
Meanwhile only the winners of the Niger tournament qualify for the tournament finals to be staged in Tanzania in May 2019.
This qualifying tournament is a new format adopted by CAF to have countries qualify for the African Cup finals through their respective regional blocks.
