Tarkwa based Medeama Sporting club has apologized to Ashantigold midfielder, James Akaminko who was attacked by a fan of Medeama SC during their friendly game at the Tarkwa and Aboso Park over the weekend.
The two topflight sides engaged in a friendly encounter at the Tarkwa and Aboso Park, the home venue of Medeama SC with Saddick Adams securing all three points for the visitors with a solitary goal.
Fans of the home side took matters into their hands with one almost beating James Akaminko of the visiting team to pulp.
Management of the home side, Medeama SC have issued an apology to the soccer loving fans, also pleading to the player for what happened.
“The management of Medeama Sporting Club condemns out of hands attack on Ashanti gold midfielder James Akaminko during a friendly match at Tarkwa on Sunday August 19 2018.
“The action of our supporters identified as Nicholas Assan has brought shame to the club and tainted our enviable brand.
“The action of this individual is disgusting and completely unacceptable and does not represent the values of tolerance and respect which the club embodies.
“The club would like to offer unqualified apology Chairman of Ashanti gold football club Dr Kwaku Frimpong and the player in question over the senseless physical attack.
“The matter has been referred to the Tarkwa Police Command for criminal investigation and the club will take action against the Identified supporters.
“Medeama SC will not tolerate the type of uncouth behavior under any circumstances. We will seek permanently exclude from our club anyone who thinks the (uncultured) behavior is even close to Acceptable” the press release stated.
