Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer George Amoako says training regimes in Ghana is not enough to be effective.
The veteran administrator is looking to effect several changes in his bid to return the Ghanaian giants to its glory days.
Amoako is returning to Kotoko for his sixth stint – only this time as the head of an 11-member management team.
One area he will be looking at is to improve the contact hours of players with their coaches to ensure training regimes are effective.
“Most of the time the clubs in Ghana will go for training not more than two hours a day,” he told FootballmadeinGhana.com.
“A coach is training 30 players in two hours a day, what kind of training will they be giving the players?
“In Europe, the training regime, the periods make it worthwhile training the players.
“You go to Man City and at 9am the players arrive, park their cars, have breakfast and go onto the field – a large pitch.
“They break into sessions to work on individual needs of players – that is coaching.
“And the players stay there until 5pm when they come home, they’ve gone to work as professionals and that is how it should be.”
