Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah will be traveling to Switzerland later this week to meet FIFA officials over the threat of a ban on Ghana football.
The world football governing body has issued an August 27 ultimatum to the state to withdraw its case in court seeking to liquidate the Ghana FA.
FIFA in a letter stated clearly it’ll ban Ghana from all football activities unless the Ghana government reneges on its court proceedings looking to dissolve the GFA.
The government proceeded to an Accra High court with the aim of dissolving the Ghana FA in the wake of the release of Number 12 – an undercover documentary which exposed massive corruption in Ghana football.
In the documentary published by Anas Aremeyaw Anas, high ranking officials of the Ghana FA including former President Kwesi Nyantakyi and a host of referees were caught receiving alleged bribes.
The government, inundated with the public uproar proceeded to the courts to dissolve the GFA which FIFA now deems as interference hence the ultimatum.
Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah however wants to meet FIFA in convincing them against the idea of banning Ghana.
A ban for Ghana will mean the nation will no longer participate in any international competition nor have any football interaction with member associations of FIFA.
