Former Black Stars midfielder, Michael Essien is very confident in Ghana’s Female Under 20 team, Black Princesses despite the side’s 4:1 defeat to host, France in the opening day of the 2018 FIFA Under 20 Women’s World Cup.
Coach Yusif Basigi and his ladies started poorly against the host, conceding three first half goals; two from Emelyne Laurent and a goal from Helene Fercocq and Sandy Baltimore made Sandra Owusu Ansah’s goal just a consolation.
However, Michael Essien who’s serving as one of the ambassdors of the biennial tournament maintains his trust in the Black Princesses, claiming the ladies gave the game their all and he’s very proud of them.
“I want to tell #BlackPrincesses that I’m proud of you! U gave the match tonight everything. Don’t lose ❤. I Believe IN U👊🏿 @FIFAWWC #U20WWC” he tweeted.
Ghana will play Netherland on Wednesday before wrapping up the group with a tie against New Zealand.
