Medeama defeat Dreams to clinch 2023 Super Cup

Ghana Premier League Champions Medeama SC defeated Dreams FC 2-1 on Sunday to win the 2023 Super Cup.

A beautiful brace from in-form Jonathan Sowah was enough to clinch to win the title at the Cape Coast stadium despite a late consolation from Agyenim Boateng.

Medeama had a good start to the game and took the lead on the 19th minute, Jonathan Sowah finished home a well to move to give the Champions the lead.

Jonathan Sowah doubled Medeama’s lead three minutes later with a sumptuous finish to make it 2-0.

The ‘Yellow and Mauves’ held on to their until the end of first half.

Dreams returned from the break doing everything to get back in the game.

The FA Cup champions were given a lifeline when they awarded a penalty in the 78th minute,  Agyenim Boateng made no mistake from the spot to pull one back.

Dreams despite their late onslaught failed to get the equaliser as Medeama managed to win by 2-1.

It’s the second ever Sup Cup title for the Tarkwa based side having won the 2015 edition.

The Ghana Premier League 2023/24 season starts on the weekends of September 15.
