Richmond Lamptey reveals reason behind Kotoko’s failed title bid

Asante Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey believes the team’s failure to defend their league title last season hinges on issues that affected the playing body.
According to Lamptey, issues confronting the team on various fronts hindered their chances of attaining glory in the just ended season.
It was a difficult campaign for the Porcupine Warriors who failed to defend their title, eventually placing 4th on the league log. Asante Kotoko also fell short of winning the FA cup and also failed to attain set targets in the CAF Champions league.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with the club’s official YouTube channel, the former Inter Allies midfielder attributed last season’s debacle to factors like indiscipline, injuries, and lack if motivation.
“As a player I think indiscipline cost us. And then motivation and everything was low. There were also a lot of injuries because it got to a stage where midfielders had to play as wingers for us,” he told the club’s YouTube channel.
“In all I think the team wasn’t balanced and that cost us the title compared to the previous season,” he added.
Lamptey is currently in camp at Beposo with the rest of the first team undergoing their pre-season.
