Ghana’s Minister for Youth and Sports Hon. Mustapha Ussif has revealed that work on the Essipong Sports Stadium has resumed after the contractor returned to site.
The respected legislator disclosed on Monday that the contractor renovating the Essipong Sports Stadium has returned to site to continue with the rehabilitation of the facility.
The honest leader admitted that the contractor responsible for the renovation of the facility in the Western Region had left site due to some procedural delays.
But upon the resolution of all the differences, the contractor has resumed work and soon the facility will be up for use again.
“In recent times, there have been reports in the media concerning the state of the Essipong Stadium,” he acknowledged while addressing the 29th Ordinary congress of the GFA.
“I can assure you all that, we’ve resolved the procedural delays and the contractor has been back on site working on the Phase 2.
“It is my wish that the teams within the region will make use of the facility when completed,” he added.
The Essipong Stadium was constructed in 2008 for the 2008 AFCON hosted by Ghana and has been used by several clubs in the region including Medeama SC, Sekondi Hasaacas, Eleven Wise and Fijai United FC.
Hon. Ussif’s commitment to ensuring sporting facilities are developed has been seen in his desire to renovate some existing facilities including the Accra Sports Stadium, Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium and many others, as well as getting new facilities being constructed.
