Ghana FA salutes Asamoah Gyan after announcing his retirement

The Ghana Football association have saluted legendary Asamoah Gyan for an incredible football career after he announced his retirement.
The former Sunderland forward and Ghana’s all-time top scorer Asamoah Gyan officially announced his retirement from his illustrious football career on Tuesday, 20th June 2023.
The declaration was made during his speech at the Accra International Conference Center on Tuesday night during the 30th Afreximbank Annual Meetings.
Gyan addressed the crowd during his moving retirement speech, saying, “I want to take this great opportunity, a stage that is difficult in every footballer’s career, a moment all footballers do not wish, but when nature dawns, that thin voice will keep echoing into the ears… it is time… that voice has been clear in my ears, and I have succumbed to it, it is time. It is time to hand the jersey and boots in glory as I officially retire from active football.”
With his retirement, Gyan’s extraordinary career comes to an end. In 109 games for the national team, he scored an impressive 51 goals, making him Ghana’s all-time leading scorer.
He competed for Ghana in three FIFA World Cup competitions and was essential to their historic journey to the quarterfinals of the South Africa 2010 World Cup.
The Ghana FA has applauded the former Sunderland striker for an illustrious career, wishing him the best after his football career.
