Maxwell Konadu lobbied for me to be Kotoko CEO – Nana Yaw Amponsah reveals

This was in his bid to explain the relation between he had with the former club manager Maxwell Konadu

Asante Kotoko CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah has revealed that he was appointed into his current position at the club because Maxwell Konadu lobbied for him.

This was in his bid to explain the relation between he had with the former club manager Maxwell Konadu.

Nana Yaw Amponsah in an interview with Wontumi FM on Thursday disclosed that he had a strong relationship with the Legon Cities manager and his ability to lobby for him to be the club’s CEO is a justification of their friendship.

He, however, added that despite that strong relationship with Konadu, he had to sack him for the interest of Asante Kotoko.

He reveals that Maxwell Konadu is not a problem-solving manager, reason why he could not keep him at the club.

“Maxwell is my friend. He even went to the extent of lobbying for the Kotoko job for me on my blind side,” Nana Yaw revealed to Wontumi FM in an interview on Thursday.

“Maxwell was always talking about problems without solutions. Clearly, he did not know which direction to go. So we had no option than to sack him despite being my friend,” he added.

Amponsah’s comment looks complimentary but casts a slur on the managerial acumen of Maxwell Konadu, question his problem-solving skills.

Maxwell Konadu after his playing career with Kotoko where his rise to fame started, returned as a manager who guided them to their 22nd Ghana Premier League title in 2012.
