The Ghana Football Association President, Kurt E. S. Okraku who is also the President of the WAFU Zone B has reacted to the victory of the Black Princesses of Ghana.
The Ghana female U-20 side yesterday beat their counterparts from Nigeria 3-1 on penalties after the game ended 1:1 in the 90 minutes to lift the maiden edition of the WAFU Zone B U-20 Girls tournament trophy held in Kumasi.
Coach Yussif Basigi’s side topped Group A with 6 points before beating Burkina Faso by 3:1 to reach the finals of the competition.
Ghana took the lead from the spot through the captain Stella Nyamekye on the 37th-minute mark.
Nigeria came into the game much stronger in the second half and their hard work paid off in the 85th minute of the game to take the game to penalties.
Well-determined Black Princesses showed grit in the penalty shootout as the goalkeeper saved three of the kicks of Nigeria for Ghana to win 3-1 on penalties.
Reacting to the victory of the Black Princesses, Mr. Kurt Okraku who celebrated his 52nd birthday days ago wrote on his official Facebook wall that, “A special birthday gift I will cherish for long.”
