“We are not going to underrate Niger” – David Abagna

Black Galaxies midfielder, David Abagna has insisted Ghana will not underrate Niger when the two countries meet in the quarter-finals of the African Nations Championship on Saturday.

The Black Galaxies made it through to the quarter-finals of the competition after beating Sudan 3-1 in their last group game.

Speaking to the media ahead of the game on Saturday, the Real Tamale United player explained they have learnt their lesson after their defeat against Madagascar.

“If from the start of the tournament we didn’t know there would be surprises, well we’ve learnt our lessons now.

“And even if we knew there could be surprises, it has been re-emphasize from our first game against Madagascar.

“There’s no small team in this tournament, every team has assembled his best players possibly and everyone is out here to win the trophy.

“No one has the right to look down on any team in the tournament, because everyone is well prepared for the game.

“I think what we need to do is to stay focused on our game and to believe in ourselves and try to win the game for our country tomorrow.

Ghana will face Niger on Saturday at Miloud Hadefi Stadium in Oran.
