President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Akuffo Addo has indicated that he was impressed by the performance of the Black Stars in their World Cup playoffs against Nigeria last Friday.
The Black Stars are fighting for their fourth World Cup appearance in Qatar and need to see off their arch rivals Nigeria in a two legged tie.
The first of the two ties took place last Friday at the Baba Yara stadium, with the game ending in a goalless draw.
Despite the game ending in a stalemate the players and the technical team of the Black Stars received high praises from lots of Ghanaians including the fist gentleman of the land.
Nana Akufo-Addo, while addressing the nation in the 28th national update on how Ghana has dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic, concluded his speech by stating that the Stars gave a good account of themselves.
The President also used the opportunity to wish the team good luck ahead of the second leg in Abuja.
“I wish the Black Stars, who gave a good account of themselves in Kumasi, the best of luck in Abuja on Tuesday,” the president said.
The Black Stars are expected to have their last training session at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Nigeria today ahead of Tuesday’s clash.
The winner over the two legs will qualify for the World Cup in Qatar which is slated for November 2022.
