Hearts goalkeeper Richmond Ayi went from villain to hero as the Phobians survived late scare to qualify to the quarter final of the MTN FA Cup on Sunday.
Ayi gifted the visitors the lead with less than 15 minutes to go after failing to stop a feeble shot from Ismael Antwi.
The goalkeeper went on to save four penalties to propel the Phobians to a hard fought win at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Isaac Mensah gave Hearts the lead on the 31st minute heading home a corner from Sulley Muntari.
The visitors responded two minutes after the recess courtesy a strike from Ishmael Antwi.
Sharks took a dramatic lead on the 77th minute following a howler from Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Richmond Ayi.
Hearts were awarded a penalty in injury time after Patrick Razak was brought down in the penalty box. Kofi Kordzi made no mistake from the spot to bring the Phobians on level terms.
Goalkeeper Richmond Ayi, whose howler gave Elmina Sharks a 2-1 lead during regulation time, delivered heroic saves for the Phobians, making as many as four (4) saves from the spot kick.
Ayi put his dissapointment aside to single handedly send the Phobians to the quarter final of the MTN FA Cup.
The 24-year old is expected to keep his place for the Phobians on Wednesday when they face Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League.
