Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has thrown his weight behind the team to beat their bitterest rivals the super Eagles on Nigeria on Friday.
Ghana will take on Nigeria at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in a cracking first leg of the 2022 World cup playoff.
With a better performance at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, Nigerians are convinced this is the time they need to best the Black Stars of Ghana.
But Gyan, Africa’s highest scorer at the FIFA World Cup has charged his former team mates to repeat what he led the Ghana team to do to Nigeria in the 2008 AFCON hosted in Ghana.
In a tweet that that has got many talking already, the former Sunderland striker has urged the black stars to go for the win against Nigeria and has also wished them good luck.
“The nation is fully behind you, to make it to the World Cup after all the set backs is a game changer achievement for the nation , yourselves & your families.
“Step on that pitch as wounded lions & go make history once again. Go Ghana Black Stars. Go for Gold,”Gyan tweeted.
Gyan’s latest tweet has been met with mixed reactions from Ghanaians considering his earlier tweet on the exclusion of Majeed Ashmeru from the Black Stars squad.
Gyan was a key member of the Ghana side that beat Nigeria 2-1 in the quarter finals of the 2008 AFCON with Essien and Agogo scoring the goals.
