Holstein Kiel striker and former Bayern Munich player Kwasi Okyere Wriedt has been recalled to the Black Stars for the games against Nigeria in the World Cup qualifiers.
Kwasi Okyere Wriedt’s last involvement with the Black Stars was in 2021 against Sao Tome and P. in the AFCON qualifiers and was not involved in the initial World Cup qualification phases.
He has however been handed the opportunity to extend his international caps in the crucial games against Nigeria this Friday and next Tuesday.
The player made his debut in May of 2018 against Japan in an international friendly before grabbing his second cap against Iceland in a 2-2 draw the same year.
Kwasi Okyere Wriedt who played 101 competitive games for the Bayern Munich second team and scored 71 goals moved back to Germany from Dutch Eredivisie club Willem II this year.
At his new club, Holstein Kiel, he has made 8 appearances and netted 1 goal in 226 minutes of football played.
He join other players such as Antwi Adjei to earn a recall to the Black Stars.
The Black Stars will take on the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the first leg of the play off at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Friday, March 25, while the second leg is scheduled for the Moshood Abiola stadium in Abuja on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
The Winner of the two legs will progress to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament.
