Following the exclusion of in-form Anderlecht midfielder Majeed Ashmeru from the Ghana squad to face Nigeria, former Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan the has blasted the list, describing it as ‘nonsense.’
The former Ghana skipper insists Ashmeru is a better midfielder than most of the midfielders invited, rating him as Ghana’s best central midfielder after Thomas Partey.
In a tweet that has generated over 2k retweets and more than 3k likes in less than an hour, Gyan feels the list is incomplete without the Anderlecht midfielder.
“This guy, Majeed Ashmeru is the best midfielder in Ghana after Thomas Partey PERIOD. I have kept quiet on this but this nonsense must stop. Smh,” Gyan tweeted after the list was made public.

The former WAFA playmaker has been in a swashbuckling form for Anderlecht this season, playing 31 games and scoring 3 times.
He’s been the club’s most in-form player this year, winning more than three player of the match awards and scoring all his three goals within this period.
Ashmeru’s exclusion has been a major topic for discussion in the Ghanaian sports media considering his recent form and comparing him to the midfielders invited by Coach Otto Addo.
Ghana will take on the super Eagles of Nigeria in the first leg of the final World Cup playoff at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Friday with the return leg scheduled for Abuja four days later.
