Assistant coach of the Black Stars, George Boateng believes Ghana will edge Nigeria in their bid to secure a ticket for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Despite being wary of the threat posed by the star-studded Super Eagles team, the 46 year old trainer insists Ghana has the quality to compete against their West African rivals in the play-offs.
The Black Stars will host the Super Eagles at the BabaYara Stadium in Kumasi on March 25, with the reverse leg set for Abuja four days later.
The Winner of the two legs will progress to the continental showpiece.
“Ghana is well placed to qualify for Qatar and as a team we are putting in place a solid plan to come out victorious. We respect Nigeria because they have good players
However we also have some top quality who are capable of competing against Nigeria. Internally, we are looking forward to add to our last three World Cup appearances and we know it’s time” George Boateng said in his nations address on the GFA app on Monday.
He also called on Ghanaians to rally behind their team as the two West African giants prepare to renew their rivalry.
”I will like to ask Ghanaians to put their weight behind the team in this crucial moment. We are Ghana, we are the Black Stars and we are capable”
