Hearts of Oak recorded a hard fought 2-1 win over AshantiGold SC in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday evening.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh scored in either half to ensure the defending champions returned to winning ways following their defeat at Aduana last week.
The striker broke the deadlock at the Accra Sports Stadium from the penalty spot in the 12th minute.
However the Miners grabbed the equalizer through Aminu Adams in the 24th minute to go into the break all square.
On the hour mark, Barnieh restored Hearts of Oak’s lead with a cracking finish from outside the box after some great link up play between Sulley Muntari and Kofi Kordzi to set him up.
Despite the visitor’s best efforts, the Phobians held on to snatch all three points.
Hearts will hope for more of the same in their trip to Berekum to face Chelsea in midweek while AshantiGold will aim to bounce back at home to RTU.
