Thomas Partey’s return to form is a good omen for Ghana ahead of their 2022 World Cup play-off double header against Nigeria this month.

Despite a difficult first season at the Emirates stadium largely due to number of niggling injuries.

The midfielder seems to have finally found his best form for the Gunners in the ongoing campaign.

The 28 year old was named Arsenal Player of the Month for February- his maiden award since joining the club in 2020 from Atletico Madrid.

Partey’s timely return to form is reason for optimism for Ghana as the four-time African champions prepare to face their old foes Nigeria in the World Cup playoffs.

Much of the country’s hopes will ride on the shoulders of the Arsenal star who must be a key protagonist if the Black Stars are to stand any chance against the star-studded Nigeria team.

He is expected to captain the team in the absence of skipper Andre Ayew who is suspended.

Partey has scored 12 goals in 34 appearances for the senior national team.

The Black Stars will host the Super Eagles at the 20,000–capacity Cape Coast Sports Stadium on March 25, with the reverse leg set for Abuja four days later.

The winner of the tie will represent the continent at the World football showpiece which is scheduled to take place from November 21 to December 18, 2022 in Qatar.
