The President of AshantiGold SC, Dr Kweku Frimpong has fingered GHALCA chairman Kudjoe Fianoo and his cohorts as those sabotaging the club.

According to him, all efforts to raise the club’s profile and improve their fortunes on and off the pitch have been frustrated by behind the scenes works of Fianoo and the rest of the saboteurs.

Dr. Frimpong has come in for increasing criticism following a period where the club’s operations have looked amateurish.

Ashgold, once a model club for many local football teams have become a pale shadow of themselves.

The club’s standing as a third force in Ghana football has plummeted in the period since the renowned business man has been in charge.

Claims of match-fixing and betting scandals have become like an albatross hanging round the neck of the club during his tenure.

Amid growing concerns and unsurprising agitations from fans and followers of the Obuasi-based side, Kweku Frimpong has jumped in to defend his record, claiming the current plight of the club is as a result of the machinations of Mr Fianoo and his cohorts.

In an interview with Kumasi based Oyerepa FM, Dr. Kweku Frimpong said “We are aware of what Kudjoe Fianoo and those alleging are doing.

“They frustrate every attempt to win sponsors with the betting and match fixing tag. We are all aware of what they’re doing, but choose to ignore them.

“They scare our sponsors away. Which is evil. They should stop this sabotage because it’s not good,” he concluded.

The allegations against Mr Fianoo, once in charge of running the club is likely to draw a response from the long-serving football administrator.
